This Bennett typewriter came to my collection in summer of 2020

The Bennett typewriter came up for sale under the name of junior first. The junior used ink rollers over the use of a ribbon, a ribbon was used in Bennett’s. The Bennett may be the smallest keyboard machine ever produced. it weights only a few pounds. The base of the machine also serves as the base of the lid. A leather lid would attach with 2 snaps over the screws that hold the main assembly of the machine inside its case. The machine could easily be separated into 2 pieces by removing 2 thumb screws. This would allow for easy replacement of the ribbon or ink roller, and or do cleaning and maintenance. The machines production started around 1907 and lasted for a few years. The machine sold for 15$ and was offered in iron or aluminum. The frames on these machines are very thin and are occasionally found cracked, like the machine in this collection. The machine used a 3-bank keyboard with a double shift.
