The Yost typewriter company gained great success in the typewriter market. It used a up strike design inked by a circular ink pad that all the type would rest on. Before printing the Type would run through a guide causing the Yost to have excellent alignment. The model 1 featured a coin type medallion on the back corners of the machine that were discontinued on later models such as this one. The Yost was first introduced around 1887 and continued production well into the 1900s.
